Cold Galvanizing VS Hot Galvanizing

What kind of treatment of solar street lamp pole is good?
Now the material used by the solar street lamp pole, at most or the use of high-quality Q235 steel rolled, solar street lights outside the wind and the sun and rain, to use for a longer time, its corrosion resistance is very important, in order to improve this characteristic, steel usually do galvanizing treatment.
Galvanized treatment is divided into two kinds of hot galvanized and cold galvanized, usually we will recommend the purchase of hot galvanized steel pipe light pole, because this corrosion resistance is better, so why the hot galvanized light pole corrosion resistance is better, and what is the difference between cold galvanized?

一、 Definitions

1) Cold galvanizing

Also called electric galvanizing, the steel after oil removal and pickling into the zinc salt solution, link the negative electrode of the electrolytic equipment, put the zinc plate on the opposite side, link the positive electrode of the electrolytic equipment, after the power supply, with the current from the positive to the negative directional movement, the surface of the steel pipe will also form a uniform, dense, well combined zinc deposit layer.

2) Hot-dip galvanizing

After the steel surface is cleaned and activated, it is immersed in the molten zinc liquid, and a layer of metal zinc is formed on the steel surface through the physical and chemical reaction between iron and zinc at the interface. This treatment method forms the bonding strength of the coating and the base layer, and the density, durability, maintenance free and economic of the coating are better than cold galvanized.

二、Difference

1) Operation mode

From the names of the two, we should be able to know this difference, the zinc in cold galvanized steel pipe is zinc obtained at room temperature, and the zinc in hot galvanized steel pipe is zinc obtained at 450 ° C ~480 ° C.

2) Coating thickness

The thickness of cold galvanized coating is generally only 3~5μm, which is much easier to process, but the corrosion resistance is not very good; The hot-dip galvanized coating usually has a thickness of 10μm and above, and the corrosion resistance is much better, which is about dozens of times that of cold galvanized light poles.

3) Coating structure

Hot dip galvanizing has a layer of relatively brittle compounds between the coating and the substrate, but this does not have much impact on its corrosion resistance, because its coating is a pure zinc coating, the coating is more uniform, there is no porosity, not easy to be corroded; The cold galvanized coating is composed of some zinc atoms, which belongs to physical adhesion, and there are many pores on the surface, which is easily affected by environmental corrosion.

4) Price differences

Hot dip galvanizing is a lot of trouble in production, and the requirements are more, so some equipment is relatively old, relatively small enterprises in the manufacturer is generally the use of cold galvanizing mode, and the price cost is much lower; And the production of hot dip galvanized manufacturers are generally more right, the scale is relatively large, for the quality can have better control, the cost is higher.

三、How to distinguish between cold galvanizing and hot galvanizing?

Cold galvanized surface is relatively smooth, mainly yellow-green, there are also some colorful, bluish white, white into green light performance, there may be some gray, dirty phenomenon; Compared with the hot dip galvanized surface is a little rough, there may be zinc flowers, but it looks very bright, the whole is silver white, you can pay attention to it.

Hot dip galvanizing is also called hot dip zinc or hot dip galvanizing, which is a very effective way to prevent corrosion. The production process of hot dip galvanizing is to immerse the steel parts after rust removal into about 500 melted zinc liquid, so that the surface of the steel members are attached to the zinc layer, so as to play the purpose of anti-corrosion. There are many processes in this, such as pickling the finished product, then washing, and then adding the plating solution, drying, hanging plating, cooling, medicating, cleaning, polishing, and so on.

The appearance of hot galvanizing is not as good as cold galvanizing, but the corrosion resistance of hot galvanizing is much greater than that of cold galvanizing, its corrosion resistance is ten times that of cold tin plating, and its service life is also very long, which can be used for 13 years in heavy industrial areas, 50 years in the ocean, 104 years in the suburbs, and 30 years in the city.

Relatively speaking, the price of hot galvanizing is also quite expensive, much more expensive than cold galvanizing.

Cold galvanized, is the use of electrolytic equipment to remove oil, pickling the workpiece into the composition of zinc salt solution, and connected to the negative electrode of the electrolytic equipment, placed on the opposite side of the workpiece zinc plate connected to the positive electrode of the electrolytic equipment, turn on the power, the use of current from the positive to the negative directional movement, will deposit a layer of zinc on the workpiece.

The appearance of cold galvanizing is very beautiful, much more beautiful than hot galvanizing. However, the anti-corrosion performance of cold galvanized is not so good, because its anti-corrosion layer is relatively thin, and the general anti-corrosion effect is only 5-70 years. Its price is much cheaper than hot dip galvanizing, but the quality is not so good.
