The difference between lithium battery and colloidal battery in solar street lamp

With the development of The Times, all walks of life are more and more attention to environmental protection, our lighting industry is also the same. In order to achieve the purpose of energy saving and environmental protection, solar street lights are more and more widely used in the lighting industry. Solar street lights are stored electricity through the battery, and then power supply, LED lamps as a light source, and controlled by intelligent charge and discharge controller, is to replace the traditional public power lighting energy-saving street lights. So batteries play a crucial role in solar street lights. The batteries used by solar street lights are generally divided into two types: lithium batteries and colloidal batteries. Here we will talk about the difference between the two from the three aspects of battery concept, performance, advantages and disadvantages.

Ⅰ、lithium battery & colloidal battery concept

Lithium battery is a lithium metal or lithium alloy as a negative electrode material, the use of non-aqueous electrolyte solution of the primary battery, and rechargeable batteries Lithium-ion batteries and lithium-ion polymer batteries are not the same. Lithium batteries can be broadly divided into two categories: lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries. Lithium metal batteries are usually non-rechargeable and contain lithium in metallic form. Lithium-ion batteries do not contain lithium in the metallic state and are rechargeable.

Colloidal battery belongs to a development classification of lead-acid battery, the method is to add gelling agent in sulfuric acid, so that sulfuric acid electroliquid into a colloidal state. Electrohydraulic colloidal batteries are usually called colloidal batteries.

Ⅱ、 lithium battery & colloidal battery performance

Due to the very active chemical characteristics of lithium metal, the processing, preservation and use of lithium metal have very high environmental requirements. Lithium batteries have high energy density and low self-discharge rate, so they are widely used.

Solar street lamp colloidal battery is composed of colloidal electrolyte and lead-acid battery. Its main characteristics are that it has a high cycle life and a low self-discharge rate. This means that it can withstand multiple deep charge and discharge cycles, and it can maintain a high state of charge even when it is not used for a long time. This makes the solar street lamp colloidal battery very suitable for applications such as solar street lamps that require long-term lighting.

Ⅲ、, the advantages and disadvantages of lithium batteries & colloidal batteries

Lithium battery solar street light small size, light weight, easy to install, save cost; No need to dig a pit, no controller, the power line is only within 2 meters, save materials, save labor, can be installed under the solar panel or on the light pole; No pollution, long life; Charge fast. However, the cost of lithium batteries is high and they are easily damaged in high temperature environments.

The colloidal battery street lamp uses a smaller industrial cost to produce a better battery, its discharge curve is flat, the inflection point is high, its energy and power are more than 20% larger than the conventional lead-acid battery, the life is generally about twice as long as the conventional lead-acid battery, and the high temperature and low temperature characteristics are much better. The disadvantage is that compared with lithium batteries, it is relatively bulky and difficult to assemble.

In summary, there are some differences between solar street lamp colloidal batteries and lithium batteries. If you want to know more, please contact us!
